PAOLO´S DINER

This project is my master’s thesis. I modeled a 60´s retro road diner. I recreate the scene as a toy model. The characters who live in this universe are Playmobil figures. A world full of color, style and vintage fun.

The car is the element that determines the animation. The main object of the scene is the diner which, following the movement of the car, helps us to show the different parts of the scene and its characters.

The characters are Playmobil figures, they help the scene to look like a toy model, adding nostalgia to the design of the scene.

Lighting has been a key part of this project. I have used warm lighting, which gives the sensation of a golden sunset. I have highlighted the neon lights on the sign, typical of the time. By playing with the volume of the lights, I have recreated a haze, like that seen in desert landscapes. The color palette includes bright and vivid tones that evoke the vitality of the 60s, creating a cozy atmosphere and a cartoon aesthetic.

The diner follows the same aesthetic line as the different elements of the scene, with a cartoon aesthetic.

It is inspired by the deserts of Texas, with its mountains and its warm tones.

The props I have modeled are objects that can be seen on the roads of Route 66.

I have created a logo for the restaurant with typography and colors typical of the 60s. To make the project with more personality.

I have modeled an old car, the Plymouth 1958. The car is a very important piece in this project, as I mentioned before, it is in charge of guiding us through the scene. All the details are very careful, as well as color wear and dirt. All this helps to create a correct harmony of the project.
